World of Warcraft: History and Geography of Kharanos

Kharanos is a bustling little town nestled among the mountain peaks of Dun Morogh. The town is surrounded by the stark wintry wilds of Dun Morogh, so adventure is a common commodity and some of the less tenacious folk in town might pay good coin to complete various tasks in the surrounding region. Kharanos is home to a large forge, a gnomish workshop, and the famous Thunderbrew Distillery, where adventurers can sit down and drink some of the best ale available in the world.
For all its quaint charm, Kharanos is a hub of military activity, defending against all manner of threats in the region. Directly to the west is a large cavern inhabited by fierce wendigo. To the northwest, the Frostmane trolls have entrenched themselves at Shimmer Ridge. Kharanos is where all new recruits fresh from Anvilmar report to begin their adventures in earnest.
Once, a giant Frostmane troll attacked the town and almost killed every dwarf. Only Lazlo Grindwidget was able to defeat the troll and thus was honored as a hero of Kharanos. Shortly before the Shattering of the world, earthquakes hit Kharanos. All the citizens were rescued by Rohan, Anduin Wrynn and some members of the Alliance.

In the RPG
Aside from Ironforge, Kharanos is the largest settlement in Dun Morogh. The town's steep roofs and sturdy wooden architecture are surrounded by a stone wall that keeps monsters at bay. Kharanos' dwarves are expert hunters and take special joy in using their long rifles to bring down timber wolves. This town, in Coldridge Valley, is a welcome sight to a weary traveler.

World of Warcraft: History and Geography of Kelp'thar Forest

Kelp'thar Forest is the first zone in the undersea region known as Vashj'ir. It is one of the two starting zone for all players level 80 and higher (the other is Mount Hyjal). The forest features a vast array of aquatic life and plants. There is a mixed focus between the main quests involving the naga and auxiliary quests introducing players to Vashj'ir's new under water mechanics. The most noticeable feature of the Kelp'thar Forest is found along the southern edge of the zone in what is known as the Lightless Reaches.

History
Kelp'thar Forest does not have much of a history when it was far below the ocean's surface, at least no known recorded history.

Geography
The Kelp'thar Forest is the smallest of the three underwater zones of Vashj'ir and found at the northeastern most part. Kelp'thar is separated by the Shimmering Expanse by the Lightless Reaches, a large chasm, much in the same way land zones are separated by mountains.
The forest's most notable features would be the seaweed forests and overly sized shells found throughout the region. There exists a few ruins, but not as many as would be found in the Shimmering Expanse. The region mostly consists of sunken vessels that were struck down by a sea monster while heading to the newly risen landmass. The most common wildlife includes sea turtles, sharks, crabs, and other fish life.

Crabs

Gilgoblins

Notes
During the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm beta this area was known was Kelp Forest.
Kelp'thar Forest might best suit those who do not plan on spending gold for additional riding skill, but instead get the free [Vashj'ir Seahorse] mount which makes it considerably faster to level in Kelp'thar Forest, Shimmering Expanse and Abyssal Depths.

World of Warcraft: History and Geography of Baradin Hold

Baradin Hold is the main fortress of Tol Barad, located at the island's center. Whoever controls the Hold - by taking and holding the three major fortifications around it - controls Tol Barad, and gains access to the raid instance located in the dungeon beneath the hold. The path leading to the instance line can be found at, on the outside of the hold's western wall next to the meeting stone.

History
Battle between the Alliance and Horde rages throughout the surrounding environment, but the inside of Baradin Hold stands silent - and rightly so. Among some of the most deadly entities on Azeroth - those too dangerous to chain above ground or exile from the island - are locked inside the hold, only accessible to those who claim control of Tol Barad.

Dungeon Journal
Following the Second War, the ruined fortress of Baradin Hold on the remote island of Tol Barad was converted into a prison for some of the most dangerous forces on Azeroth. Yet with the devastation wrought by the Cataclysm, the prison's integrity has been compromised. Now as the Horde and Alliance vie for supremacy on the island, the liberation of its forgotten horrors may be at hand.

Notes
The hallways were guarded by Demon Containment Units, until they were destroyed by Occu'thar. Then Eyes of Occu'thar roamed the halls in two packs, until they were replaced by Disciples of Hate who serve Alizabal.
The instance has been designed to allow for future bosses, so that the dungeon doesn't seem to magically stretch over time like Wintergrasp Fortress.

Encounters
Disciple of Hate
Argaloth
Occu'thar
Eye of Occu'thar
Alizabal

World of Warcraft: History of Sunhawk Faction

The Sunhawks are a group of blood elves loyal to Kael'thas Sunstrider who commandeered the Exodar before the draenei, led by Velen, stole it back. A small group of them were led by Sironas in Bloodmyst Isle. Among her plans, Sironas had begun using the remains of the ship's Vector Coil to create a Sun Gate, a dimensional rift which allowed for a steady supply of reinforcements to be shipped from Outland. They wished to reclaim the Exodar and seemed to want to turn the draenei into man'ari eredar. They have since been disbanded by adventurers sent by the Hand of Argus.
